Horizon Introduces New FD92 Model
Horizon Yachts has expanded its acclaimed Fast Displacement Series - ranging from 70ft - 125ft - of high-volume, high-performance motor yachts with the addition of a brand new FD92 model.
Inspired by the request of an experienced client who desired both an enclosed skylounge and an open flybridge, the new FD92 is based on the popular FD87 model and features a tri-deck superstructure perched atop an extended hull form.
Showcasing the striking profile, interior space and High-Performance Piercing Bow and hull design that characterize the Cor D. Rover-designed FD Series, the first FD92 will accommodate guests in a full-beam on-deck master stateroom equipped with his-and-hers heads and four additional lower-deck staterooms. Crew quarters for three are situated aft of the engine room, just forward of the fully equipped beach club.
The tri-deck design — the first-ever for the FD Series — allows for a helm, L-shaped seating, a sunpad and a small bar equipped with a fridge and icemaker to be positioned on the uppermost deck, which can be shaded with a bimini top. Another inviting exterior area has been designed for the foredeck, which will feature a six-person Jacuzzi, seating area, sunpads and fridge/icemaker. Aft of the enclosed skylounge — which houses the helm station, lounge seating and a day head — the boat deck will be fitted with a bar and stools while the tender is comfortably stowed furthest aft while underway.
Intended for entertaining, the aft deck of the new FD92 has been designed to accommodate formal dining for ten, and features a wet bar on the starboard side as well as a built-in settee and plenty of storage. Graced by the full-height windows throughout the main salon, another formal dining table for ten separates the interior lounging area and aft day head from the portside galley and full-beam master forward.
The tri-deck superstructure design led to a proportionate hull extension, giving this yacht an LOA of 92’ and augmenting the already spacious beach club and Hi/Lo swim platform and watersports area. Built with a 2,500lb capacity, the platform itself boasts yet another ingenious amenity — a “transformer” section that rises and lowers to facilitate water access with ease.
“For all intents and purposes, Horizon Yachts is largely a custom builder,” says Horizon Group CEO John Lu. “One of the company principles, however, is to take the investment and R&D from a successful Horizon yacht customization and build fully engineered and tested models of that yacht on spec for future owners. The collaboration with the owner of the FD92 led not only to a yacht that met his design criteria, but also a new model for our FD Series that offers the best of indoor and outdoor living.”
The first FD92 — Hull 15 — is currently under construction and on schedule to be delivered to its American owner in July of 2020. The second FD92 — Hull 17 being built on spec — will be launched at the end of 2020.
