Launched | Third FD92 Tri-Deck
New launches continue apace at the Horizon shipyards, with no fewer than seven new FD Series builds leaving the sheds in the last six months. The launch of the latest FD Series yacht – a brand new tri-deck FD92 – is notable as it is one of the few recent yachts built on spec.
Horizon’s willingness to customize led to the design and build of the first FD92, for which the owner desired a yacht with the interior volume afforded by the FD Series, but wanted the option to pilot the boat from either an open flybridge or an enclosed wheelhouse. Horizon engineered a lightweight carbon fiber flybridge atop the FD’s enclosed skylounge design and the new FD92 model was born. Also built on spec, Hull Two was delivered in early February 2021 at the Horizon Yachts USA Fort Lauderdale office to a third-time Horizon owner.
Maximizing all of the coveted features of the Cor D. Rover-designed FD Series – from the spacious interior and expansive windows to the High-Performance Piercing Bow and hull design – the latest FD92 features a five-stateroom layout with an on-deck master, crew quarters and a beach club. Outfitted in satin walnut with high-gloss wenge and oak accents, the main deck is laid out in the traditional configuration, with the main salon aft and formal dining and galley amidships. The main salon offers an L-shaped sofa seating area with freestanding chairs and a dayhead aft. An enclosed bar with glassware storage features a sideboard counter equipped with a wireless charging station that also allows for cocktail preparation and service to both the salon and aft deck. The aft deck itself boasts a large seating area and convertible coffee table that folds out into a dining table. Forward of the main salon, the formal dining area is equipped with its own convertible table and the fully-equipped galley can be separated from the salon via privacy doors as well as an artistically-styled Hi/Lo island partition.
Forward past a floating staircase, the master stateroom encompasses the yacht’s 7.1m beam and features a his-and-hers en suite. The television is fitted within a stylish full-height leather wall panel and a leather love seat to port invites relaxation while enjoying the views afforded by the large stateroom windows. Throughout the main and upper decks, electric window treatments provide shade and privacy when desired.
The lower deck foyer is equipped with a mini bar to service the three queen and convertible twin staterooms. The televisions have all been fitted within full-height leather wall panels. The engine room, crew quarters and beach club are positioned aft of the guest accommodations. The crew area has been designed with a Captain’s cabin and two bunk cabins to accommodate up to five crew members when desired. The beach club offers a bar with two fixed stools and a large convertible sofa/daybed.
On the upper deck, the enclosed skylounge houses the helm station, lounge seating with an organic shaped coffee table, and a dayhead. Wireless charging stations have been incorporated on this deck as well. The boat deck aft houses a fully equipped bar with stools, icemaker and refrigeration, while the large Jacuzzi tub with its own bar counter and stools can be covered to serve as an additional sunpad. A tender or two jet skis can be stowed furthest aft, and replaced with lounge seating when launched.
Another inviting exterior area has been designed for the foredeck, which features a U-shaped dinette and a sunpad for three with cupholders and atmosphere lighting. This area can be protected with a custom foredeck shade system.
The FD92’s tri-deck design allows for a helm, L-shaped seating, sunpad and a bar equipped with a fridge and icemaker to be positioned on the uppermost deck. Powered by twin MTU 10V2000 M96L engines of 1,600hp each, the latest FD92 will make her U.S. debut in April 2021.
